Toward a 7-Dimensional Approach to ADHD Intervention
Behavior analysts are familiar with the Baer, Wolf, and Risley article of 1968 that encourages us to address the problems that society shows an interest in. Surely, society shows an interest in ADHD. The CDC recommends behavior therapy or behavior therapy + medication.
Do behavior analysts know how to implement effective behavior therapy with ADHD clients?
Arguably, behavior analysts have been cornered into the world of autism intervention. Some have argued applied behavior analysis has become synonymous with autism therapy. In this training, I argue that behavior analysts are not as well equipped to provide behavior therapy for clients with ADHD as they are clients with ASD.
I also argue that we can change that — we can become the most effective providers for ADHD symptoms management outside of the medical model.
